As a Vermont wedding photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing some truly magical moments in some of the most beautiful locations across the state. Katelyn & Brent’s Wedding at Sugarbush Resort will be one that stands out in my mind for a very long time. They both love skiing, especially at Sugarbush, so it was a perfect fit for their wedding venue.
They both had rooms for getting ready in Claybrook at the base of the mountain. setting the tone for an unforgettable day.
The Beauty of Sugarbush Resort
Located in the Mad River Valley, Sugarbush is stunning in all four seasons. After winding up the access road, you get fully immersed in the panoramic view of the resort and ridgeline.
The Mountaintop Meadow Ceremony
The ceremony took place at the Mountaintop Meadow, which is located at the top of the Gate House chairlift. This unique location offers expansive views of the valley below, providing an unforgettable guest experience. As guests arrived, they were treated to a scenic lift ride up the ceremony location. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, with beautiful fluffy clouds across the valley below. After some fireball shots and lots of laughter, the ceremony took place. The best part? Another lift ride down to cocktail hour.
The Lincoln Peak Courtyard Cocktail Hour
After the ceremony, guests made their way back down the mountain to the Lincoln Peak Courtyard for cocktail hour. Summer evenings in Vermont are amazing, and this one did not disappoint. The courtyard is the perfect setting for guests to mingle and catch up, with a relaxed and casual atmosphere that perfectly complements the vibe of a ski resort backdrop.
The Gatehouse Lodge Reception and Dance Party
As the sun began to set, guests made their way to the Gatehouse Lodge for the reception and dance party. A few days before the wedding I had one final call with Katelyn & Brent to check the details. They said “So..we have an idea, it might sound strange…” I told them I’m always down for the weird and crazy so let’s hear it! They have a fantasy football league, and on draft night, they all play a round of flip cup to get things started. “Do you think it would be cool if we played a round of bridesmaids VS groomsmen flip cup before we enter into the reception?” You can obviously guess what my answer was! Check out the photographs!
The lodge offers amazing views of the mountain, creating an unforgettable backdrop for that perfect Vermont Wedding feeling. A crazy dance party was had, as well as a few bottles of champagne sprayed. All in all, it was one hell of a party.
Tips for Planning a Vermont Wedding
If you are planning a wedding in Vermont, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure that your day is as magical as possible. First and foremost, consider the natural beauty of the state and look for a venue that allows you to take advantage. Vermont is known for its rolling hills, pristine lakes, and scenic drives, so choose a location that showcases the features you love most. Finding a local Vermont wedding photographer can be a game changer when it comes to them knowing the ‘hidden gems’ that will make your wedding photos unique to you.
Time of year is another important consideration. Vermont is a popular destination for fall weddings. Everyone wants those classic fall foliage backdrops. Those are definitely the first weekends I book every year, but the rest of the summer is just as stunning. Summer weddings are just as magical, with warm weather and long days providing the perfect setting for outdoor celebrations.
